The Challenge
One part, four different identities
Each ship store sourced the same physical part from a different supplier, and each supplier shipped it under its own part number. To a rig manager checking stock, the part looked like four unrelated items scattered across four locations.
- Part “ABC” was on hand at Ship Store 1, but listed as “123” at Ship Store 2, “456” at Ship Store 3, and “789” at Ship Store 4.
- No unified view of true on-hand quantity existed across ship stores or participating on-rig inventories.
- Rig managers were unable to see what was actually on hand before placing a new requisition.
The Solution
Cross-referencing identity, not just inventory
Using C2C®, the client was able to identify part number “ABC” as having three alternate product numbers and link every alias back to one, true part record.
